. . . .
At Spring Garden Church, we hold to the historic Christian faith, rooted in the Scriptures and lived out in community. Our beliefs are not abstract ideas—they shape how we worship, how we serve, and how we live day by day.
God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all things, holy and sovereign, full of love and truth.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. He came to earth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again on the third day. Through His sacrifice, we are forgiven and reconciled to God. Jesus is the only way of salvation, and He calls us to follow Him as Lord in every part of life.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is present and active today, convicting the world of sin, giving new life to believers, and empowering the church to live faithfully. The Spirit guides us into truth, comforts us in weakness, and produces fruit in our lives that reflect Christ’s character.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, completely trustworthy and authoritative for faith and practice. It is not just a book of history, but the living voice of God, calling us to obedience, discipleship, and hope.
Salvation
We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received by faith in Jesus Christ. It is not earned by our works, but true faith is always expressed through repentance, obedience, and love. Salvation means turning from sin, receiving forgiveness, and walking in newness of life with Christ.
The Church
We believe the church is the body of Christ on earth, made up of all believers who confess Jesus as Lord. Locally, the church is a family where we worship, study Scripture, encourage one another, and serve together. As an Amish Mennonite congregation, we seek to live simply, humbly, and in community, reflecting Christ’s love to the world around us.
Baptism & Communion
We believe baptism is a public confession of faith in Christ, symbolizing repentance, forgiveness, and new life. Communion (the Lord’s Supper) is a memorial of Christ’s death and resurrection, a time of remembrance, unity, and thanksgiving.
Christian Living
We believe faith must be lived out. As followers of Jesus, we are called to love God above all, love our neighbors as ourselves, forgive as we have been forgiven, and serve with humility. We seek to live peaceably, reject violence, and follow Christ’s example of self-giving love.
The Return of Christ
We believe Jesus will return one day to make all things new. He will judge the living and the dead, reward the faithful, and establish His eternal kingdom. Until then, we live with hope, faithfully serving and watching for His coming.
Our Commitment
Our statement of faith is more than words—it is our covenant as a church family. We commit to stand together in these beliefs, to live them out with integrity, and to pass them on to the next generation.
